Chicken Dumplings Recipe

Thank god for these little bite sized marvels! This is a slightly Indianised version of the traditional Chinese tea time snack, from my kitchen to yours!!

Ingredients
  • Olive oil
  • 3 green chilies(not too hot)
  • 8 cloves of garlic
  • 5 boneless chicken breasts
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh green coriander
  • 1/2 tablespoon dark soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons sweet chilli sauce
  • 1 large red onion
  • A packet of wonton wrappers
Method
  1. Finely dice or mince the chicken breasts and marinade them in a little bit of the olive oil, soy sauce , 4 crushed cloves of garlic, salt, pepper and 1 finely chopped green chilly. Let the chicken rest for atleast half an hour.
  2. Meanwhile, finely dice the red onion and rest of the garlic cloves and chilles.
  3. In a heavy based pan, heat some oil and put the chopped garlic and green chillies into it.
  4. Then add the chopped onion and cook for about 3-4 minutes, or until it softens.
  5. Once the onions are cooked, add the chicken and cook for 5 minutes or until it changes colour.
  6. Add the sweet chilly sauce and chopped coriander and simmer for another 2 minutes, then remove from heat and let it cool.
  7. In a small bowl take some cold water to seal the wanton wrappers with.
  8. On a plate take one of the wrappers, spoon some of the chicken mixture in the middle then dip one finger into the water and apply some of the water around the edges of the wrapper and seal it like I have done in the photos.
  9. Lightly Oil your steamer and steam the wantons for about 10-12 minutes or until they’re cooked.
  10. Serve hot with the sweet chilli sauce as a dip and enjoy!
